Introduction

Use the Postel API to draft, schedule and publish posts, write in your own voice, and turn viral posts into your own.

The Postel API is a REST API over JSON. It does what the Postel app does, from your own code or from an automation tool.

With it you can:

  • Save drafts and threads for X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Mastodon, with images or a video.
  • Schedule a post for a time, or publish it now.
  • Have Postel write a post in your voice from a prompt.
  • Find posts that took off in your niche and write your own take on them.
  • Poll for events, such as a post going out or failing, to drive your automations.

Base URL

https://www.postel.app/api

Every path in these docs starts at that base, so /v1/me means https://www.postel.app/api/v1/me. Call www.postel.app directly. A request to postel.app gets redirected, and the redirect drops your Authorization header.

Try it in 30 seconds

Create an API key in Postel under Settings → API & MCP, then ask the API who you are:

Terminal
curl https://www.postel.app/api/v1/me \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POSTEL_API_KEY"
Response
{
  "user": {
    "id": "rL9xQ2mT7vK4pN8sW3cZ6hB1yF5dJ0aE",
    "name": "Maya Chen",
    "email": "maya@northwind.studio"
  },
  "workspace": {
    "id": "o7Hk2LmQ9rT4vX1nB6sY3pC8wZ5dF0gJ",
    "name": "Northwind",
    "slug": "northwind",
    "timezone": "Europe/Berlin"
  },
  "canPublish": true,
  "label": "Northwind (maya@northwind.studio)"
}

canPublish is true when the workspace's plan includes scheduling and publishing.
