MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients to Postel so they can research, draft and schedule posts for you.

Postel runs a hosted Model Context Protocol server. Once you connect it, an AI client like Claude can write posts in your voice, save them as drafts in Postel, and schedule or publish them after you approve.

Server URL
https://www.postel.app/api/mcp

It uses the Streamable HTTP transport. You sign in with your Postel account through OAuth, or send an API key.

Claude

Postel is listed in Claude's connector directory.

  1. Open Postel in Claude's connector directory and click Connect.
  2. A Postel window opens. Sign in and approve access.
  3. In a chat, click +, open Connectors and switch Postel on.

To add it by hand instead, open Customize → Connectors, click + Add, choose Add custom connector and enter the server URL. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors.

Claude Desktop uses the same connectors as Claude on the web.

Claude Code

Sign in through your browser:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http postel https://www.postel.app/api/mcp

Or connect with an API key:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http postel \
  https://www.postel.app/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $POSTEL_API_KEY"

Cursor and other clients

Add the server URL to your client's MCP settings. For Cursor, put this in .cursor/mcp.json, and Cursor asks you to sign in:

.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "postel": {
      "url": "https://www.postel.app/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

To use an API key instead, add a header:

.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "postel": {
      "url": "https://www.postel.app/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer pstl_..."
      }
    }
  }
}

ChatGPT and other clients that support remote MCP servers connect with the same URL.

Approval

Claude asks you before it runs a tool that schedules or publishes. In Postel, you can also make every post from MCP wait for approval: turn on Posts written by AI under Settings → General → Approvals. Then MCP can only send posts for approval. See Approvals and plans.

In Claude, Research can run connector tools without asking, so switch off Postel's schedule and publish tools before you use it.
