Why Twitter/X Cards matter

Twitter/X Cards enhance your shared links with rich media previews that capture attention in the feed. They drive higher engagement, more clicks, and better conversion rates for your content.

Increased Visibility

Image-rich cards occupy more screen space in feeds, helping your content stand out and capture user attention more effectively.

Higher Engagement

Posts featuring Twitter/X Cards can generate up to three times more engagement compared to text-only tweets.

Better Click-Through

Optimized cards boost click-through rates by offering attractive visual previews that entice users to learn more.

Types of Twitter/X Cards

Choose the right card type for your content to maximize engagement and visual impact.

<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary" />

<meta name="twitter:card" content="app" />

<meta name="twitter:card" content="player" />

How to fix Twitter/X Card issues

If your Twitter/X Card is not displaying correctly, ensure you have the proper meta tags in your HTML <head> section:

  • Use twitter:card to specify the card type (summary, summary_large_image)
  • Set twitter:title and twitter:description for text content
  • Provide twitter:image with a properly sized image (minimum 300×157px)
  • Include twitter:site to associate the card with your Twitter account

Twitter/X Card Optimization Tips

  • Use high-quality, properly sized images (minimum 300×157px, recommended 1200×628px)
  • Keep titles under 70 characters to prevent truncation
  • Write compelling descriptions under 200 characters
  • Include your brand name in the site_name meta tag
  • Test your cards on different devices to ensure they display correctly
  • Implement Twitter/X Cards meta tags alongside Open Graph tags for maximum compatibility

Common Twitter/X Card Issues and Solutions

Missing or Incorrect Images

Issue: Card displays with no image or wrong image.

Solution: Make sure your image URL is absolute, properly formatted, and the image meets the minimum size requirements (300×157px). Verify your image is publicly accessible.

Truncated Title or Description

Issue: Text gets cut off in the card preview.

Solution: Keep titles under 70 characters and descriptions under 200 characters. Prioritize important information at the beginning.

Card Not Appearing

Issue: Twitter shows a simple link instead of a card.

Solution: Ensure you have at minimum the twitter:card, twitter:title, and twitter:description meta tags. Check if your website is being blocked by robots.txt.

Card Not Refreshing

Issue: Updates to your meta tags aren't reflected when sharing.

Solution: Use Twitter's Card Validator or our tool to request a cache refresh, or append a query parameter to your URL when sharing to force a fresh scrape.
