Blotato Alternative: Postel vs Blotato for X and LinkedIn

Postel is the better Blotato alternative if your posts have to sound like you: it learns your voice from your own posts and, on Pro and up, writes next week's posts for you to approve. Blotato is the better fit if you need Instagram, Pinterest, AI video, or n8n or Make automations.

What is Blotato?

Blotato calls itself "agent infrastructure for social media marketing": one API and MCP server for nine networks. Its home page leads with "Social Media Automation Inside ChatGPT & Claude".

  • Publishing. One call posts to X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest.
  • Scheduling. Post now, at a time, or in the next free slot, with recurring weekly slots per network and account.
  • Writing. "You bring a topic. Blotato runs it through proven templates and a model fine-tuned on viral posts, then formats the output for each platform." Its pricing page offers to "Make a week of content in the next 60 seconds". Writing is unlimited on every plan.
  • Visuals. Infographics, carousels, slideshows, quote and tweet cards, and AI-avatar video with generated B-roll, paid with AI credits.
  • Comments and DMs. Reply to comments and messages from your agent, and keyword-triggered DM funnels on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Analytics. "Metrics on eight platforms, everything except LinkedIn."
  • Automation. A REST API, a hosted MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and others, and official n8n and Make nodes.

Blotato also says who it is not for: "Long-form video clipping. UGC ad farms. SEO-only operators chasing keyword rankings. People who want to spam low-effort AI content without adding their own perspective."

Agency$499/monthNot stated28,00015,000

AI credits pay for images and video. DM contacts are the active contacts Blotato's DMs and comment replies reach each month. Every plan includes unlimited AI writing, the API and MCP, and n8n and Make nodes. Creator adds faster video processing and an unlimited database of viral posts; Agency adds dedicated video processing and support. Yearly billing saves about 17% ("you pay for 10 months and get 12"), and you switch to it in the billing portal.

Things to know before you start the trial:

  • A card is required. Nothing is charged during the 7 days.
  • The API and MCP are not in the trial. Generating an API key ends the trial and starts your paid plan right away, and the n8n and Make nodes need an API key too.
  • Credits are for images and video. Writing, scheduling, publishing and API calls don't use them.

Where Postel is the better fit

Your posts have to sound like you

Blotato writes from a topic, through templates and a model tuned on viral posts. Postel starts from you: it reads your own X or LinkedIn posts to learn how you write, and drafts from the topics, product details and opinions you save in its knowledge base.

It also turns YouTube videos, articles and files into posts, and every plan has a library of viral posts and formats you can use as templates.

You want next week written, not a blank calendar

On Pro and up, Plan next week fills the free posting slots of the next 7, 14 or 28 days with X and LinkedIn posts. Each card shows its opening line, its format and the material it comes from, so you can swap or edit the plan before Postel writes it. The drafts wait in For You, where you schedule, edit or skip each one. Turn on automatic scheduling and they go straight into their slots instead.

Blotato can also produce a week of posts, but from a topic you bring, and its site lists no queue for approving them.

You work from Claude and want it to know your voice

Both have MCP servers. Postel is listed in Claude's connector directory, so you add it from the directory instead of pasting a server URL, and the drafts it writes in Claude use your saved voice and background. Postel's MCP server is on every plan. Setup guides: connect Claude to LinkedIn and connect Claude to X.

You want to bring your own AI key

On Pro and up, Postel can run on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter key. That usage bills to your provider and costs no Postel credits. Blotato doesn't list it.

You post on Mastodon

Blotato doesn't list Mastodon. Postel publishes to any Mastodon server.

Where Blotato is the better fit

  • More networks today. Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Threads and Pinterest are on Blotato now. On Postel, LinkedIn company Pages, Instagram, Threads and YouTube are coming soon (submitted for review).
  • Visual content. AI images, video, avatars, infographics and slideshows. Postel writes text posts, plus LinkedIn image and carousel posts in your brand style on Pro.
  • Comments and DMs. Blotato replies to comments and runs DM funnels. Postel doesn't touch your inbox.
  • No-code automation. Official n8n and Make nodes. Postel has no official nodes; tools that can call an MCP server can use Postel's with an API key.
  • Many accounts on one plan. 20 social accounts on Starter and 40 on Creator. Postel's Starter, Pro and Team plans run one brand (its X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Mastodon accounts); Agency runs up to 30 brands.
