What This LinkedIn MCP Server Does
- Drafts LinkedIn posts in your voice. Your assistant calls
generate-postwithplatform: "linkedin". Postel writes the post using your voice profile and knowledge base and saves it as a draft. - Refines drafts.
refine-postsuggests a rewrite from an instruction such as "shorter hook" or "add a call to action". - Schedules and publishes.
schedule-postqueues a draft for a date and time.publish-postsends it right away. Both publish to the LinkedIn profile connected in Postel. - Reads your content calendar.
list-postsandget-scheduleshow what is drafted, what is scheduled and which posting slots you use. - Uses your context.
list-brandsandget-brand-sourcesgive the assistant your topics and background material.
The same server also handles X (Twitter). See the X MCP server page.
What It Does Not Do
This server is for publishing your own posts. It does not:
- read your LinkedIn feed, messages or notifications
- search or scrape profiles, companies or jobs
- send connection requests, messages or comments on other people's posts
- post to company pages (personal profiles only)
If you want an assistant that researches people or runs outreach, this is the wrong tool.
Streamline your content creation and grow your business with valuable content
How to Set Up the LinkedIn MCP Server
Step 1: Connect LinkedIn in Postel
Create a Postel account, open Settings > Channels and connect your LinkedIn profile. You approve the connection on LinkedIn's own consent screen.
Step 2: Add the server to your MCP client
The server URL is https://www.postel.app/api/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP and supports OAuth 2.1 or an API key. Client-specific instructions are below.
Step 3: Sign in
With OAuth, your client opens a browser window where you sign in to Postel and approve access. With an API key, create one under Settings > API Keys and pass it as a bearer token.
Step 4: Ask for a LinkedIn post
Ask your assistant to draft a LinkedIn post about a topic. Review the draft, ask for changes, then tell it when to schedule.
Client Setup
Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Customize > Connectors.
- Click +, then Add custom connector.
- Enter
https://www.postel.app/api/mcpand click Add. - Sign in to Postel when Claude asks you to connect.
Custom connectors are available on every Claude plan. The free plan allows one. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds the connector under Organization settings > Connectors first.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http postel https://www.postel.app/api/mcp
Then run /mcp inside a Claude Code session and complete the sign-in in your browser.
Cursor and VS Code
Add this to your MCP configuration, with an API key from Settings > API Keys:
{
"mcpServers": {
"postel": {
"type": "url",
"url": "https://www.postel.app/api/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer pstl_YOUR_API_KEY"
}
}
}
}
Other clients
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Server URL | https://www.postel.app/api/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Authentication | OAuth 2.1, or Authorization: Bearer pstl_YOUR_API_KEY |
The Postel MCP server page has setup notes for more clients and the full tool list.
Example Prompts
- "Draft a LinkedIn post about the pricing change we shipped this week. Keep it under 1,200 characters."
- "Show me my scheduled posts for next week."
- "Take the draft about hiring and make the first two lines stronger."
- "Schedule that post for Tuesday at 9am Berlin time."
- "What are my posting slots?"
Nothing is published until you say so: your MCP client asks for approval before it runs a tool that schedules or publishes, unless you have turned that off.

How Posts Reach LinkedIn
Postel publishes through LinkedIn's official "Share on LinkedIn" API, using the permission you grant when you connect your profile. A few things follow from that:
- Text posts up to 3,000 characters. Media (images, a video or a document) and the first comment are added in the Postel editor, not through MCP.
- The connection lasts 60 days. LinkedIn does not let apps renew it silently. Postel emails you a week before it expires, and reconnecting takes one click.
- Failures are visible. If LinkedIn rejects a post, it returns to your drafts with the reason.
How It Compares to Other LinkedIn MCP Servers
LinkedIn has not published an MCP server of its own, as far as we can find (October 2026). The servers you see in search results are third-party and fall into three groups:
| Type | How it connects | Good for | Publishing posts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser-session servers | Drive a logged-in browser or reuse your LinkedIn cookies | Reading profiles, companies, jobs and messages | Usually not |
| Bring-your-own-app servers | Your own LinkedIn developer app and the official API | Developers who want to self-host | Yes, text and image posts |
| Hosted publishing tools (Postel) | Official API, hosted for you | Writing in your voice, scheduling, a content calendar | Yes |
The best-known browser-session server, stickerdaniel/linkedin-mcp-server, reads profiles, companies, jobs, feed and messages through your own logged-in browser session. It has no tool for publishing posts, and its README warns that LinkedIn's User Agreement prohibits automated access and that accounts using automated tools can be restricted.
Postel does the opposite job. It cannot read LinkedIn for you, but it publishes through the official API and adds what a raw API server lacks: your voice, your knowledge base, posting slots and scheduling.
Plans and Limits
- Drafting and reading posts work on any plan, within your monthly generation quota.
- Scheduling and publishing need a paid plan or an active trial.
- API keys are limited to 60 requests per minute.
Paid plans start at $19/month billed yearly, with a 7-day trial. See pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Claude post to LinkedIn?
Yes, through an MCP server that has publishing access. With Postel connected, Claude drafts the post, you approve it, and Postel publishes or schedules it on your personal LinkedIn profile.
Does this LinkedIn MCP server scrape LinkedIn or use my cookies?
No. Posts are published through LinkedIn's official API with the permission you grant on LinkedIn's consent screen. The server never asks for your LinkedIn password or session cookies.
Does it work with LinkedIn company pages?
No. Postel publishes to personal profiles only.
Can the assistant publish without asking me?
Only if you let it. MCP clients such as Claude Code and Cursor ask for approval before running a tool by default. Keep that on for the schedule and publish tools and nothing goes out without you.
Do I need a paid plan?
Drafting works within the free quota. Scheduling and publishing need a paid plan or a trial.
Which MCP clients are supported?
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth or a bearer token, including Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf.
Is there an official LinkedIn MCP server?
Not that we can find. As of October 2026 LinkedIn has not published one, and Claude's connector directory has no connector from LinkedIn itself. LinkedIn MCP servers are third-party tools.
