Best Twitter (X) Scheduling Tools in 2026: 8 Tools Compared

Joschua Sünneke
Joschua Sünneke•Oct 3, 2026

The best Twitter scheduler depends on what else you want from it. Typefully has the most generous free plan for X. Postel suits people who post on X and LinkedIn and want drafts written in their own voice. Tweet Hunter is built for X growth automation, Buffer and Publer are the cheapest way to cover many networks, Postiz is open source, and Metricool leads on analytics. One change matters if you are comparing older lists: Hypefury, long a popular X tool, now says on its own pricing page that it "no longer supports 𝕏". Postel is our product, so read its entry with that in mind. Every competitor fact on this page comes from the vendor's own website or help centre, checked on October 3, 2026.

1. Postel

Postel is a writing and scheduling tool for people who post as themselves on X and LinkedIn. It schedules posts, full threads with media and posts to X Communities into weekly posting slots, varies posting times by a few minutes, and can add a follow-up reply once a post reaches a like threshold (Auto-Plug). It learns your style from your X posts and drafts new ones from ideas, YouTube videos, podcasts and articles. The same calendar holds posts for your personal LinkedIn profile, and an MCP server lets you draft and schedule from Claude or ChatGPT.

Price: $29/month, or $19/month billed yearly, with a 7-day trial. Limits: no free plan, no analytics dashboard, LinkedIn company pages not supported.

2. Typefully

Typefully is a writing and scheduling app for X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon and Substack. Its Free plan already includes threads, X Communities, scheduled reposts, an automatic plug, auto-DMs and a queue with time slots, plus API and MCP access, limited to 10 posts a month. Its AI "learns your tone, vocabulary, and patterns from your writing samples"; AI writing and X analytics start on the Creator plan.

Price: Free; Creator $99/year (annual billing only); Business $18 per social set per month billed yearly, or $20 monthly.

3. Tweet Hunter

Tweet Hunter is an X-only growth tool: a library of viral tweets, scheduling for tweets and threads, evergreen tweets, auto-plug and auto-retweet, auto-DMs, a CRM and full X analytics. Its AI writer "studies your last 3 months of tweets and writes in your style", starting on the Grow plan.

Price: Discover $29/month, Grow $49/month, Enterprise $200/month, or $23, $36 and $167 per month billed yearly. 7-day trial.

4. Buffer

Buffer schedules to more than a dozen networks, X among them, with threads, reposts and quotes, a queue and X analytics. Its AI assistant writes and rewrites posts with an adjustable tone. The free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and one threaded post.

Price: Free; Essentials $6 per channel per month and Team $12, or $5 and $10 billed yearly. 14-day trial on paid plans.

5. Publer

Publer is a low-cost scheduler for 13 networks. On X it handles threads of up to 26 posts, long posts, scheduled reposts and quotes, an auto-schedule queue and analytics, but X accounts can't be connected on the free plan because of X's API costs. Its AI assistant, with "Brand Voices", is on the Business plan.

Price: Professional $5 and Business $10 per social account per month, or $4 and $8 billed yearly. VAT not included.

6. Postiz

Postiz is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) scheduler for 28+ networks that can also be self-hosted. On X it supports threads, posting to an X Community by URL, analytics and "Plugs" that repost or comment once a post reaches an engagement threshold. Its API, CLI and MCP server are on every plan.

Price: Standard $29, Team $39, Pro $49 and Ultimate $99 per month, or $23, $31, $39 and $79 billed yearly, for 5 to 100 channels. 7-day trial; no free cloud plan.

7. Metricool

Metricool is an analytics-first social media tool for brands and agencies. It schedules X threads and reports on X, but X is a paid add-on at $10 a month per connected account and isn't available on the free plan. Its AI offers tone presets rather than learning your voice.

Price: Starter from $25/month for 5 brands, or $20/month billed yearly, plus the X add-on. Prices exclude VAT.

8. X Pro (formerly TweetDeck)

X documents scheduling posts in advance in X Pro, including for several accounts. X Pro is listed as "Only for Premium+ Tier", and Premium+ starts at $40/month on the web. Until at least January 2026, X's help page also described scheduling from the regular x.com composer; the current version no longer mentions it.

What Happened to Hypefury?

Hypefury's pricing page now answers "Does Hypefury still support 𝕏/Twitter?" with "Nope! Hypefury no longer supports 𝕏". It publishes to Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok. If you used Hypefury for X, the closest replacements are Typefully (auto-plug and scheduled reposts on every plan), Tweet Hunter (automation) and Postel (writing in your voice, X and LinkedIn). See Postel vs Hypefury.

How to Choose

  1. Is X your only platform? Tweet Hunter and X Pro are X only. Everything else here also covers LinkedIn and more.
  2. Do you want help writing? Postel, Typefully (Creator and up), Tweet Hunter (Grow and up) and Postiz say their AI writes in your voice. Buffer and Metricool offer generic or tone-based AI.
  3. Do you need a free plan? Typefully's free plan includes X with most of its features. Buffer's free plan covers X with limits. Publer and Metricool don't include X for free.
  4. Do you want automation? Auto-plug is on Postel, Typefully, Tweet Hunter and Postiz. Auto-DMs are on Typefully and Tweet Hunter.
  5. Do you need analytics? Tweet Hunter, Typefully (Creator and up), Buffer, Publer, Postiz and Metricool report on X. Postel doesn't.

How We Compared

We read each tool's pricing page, feature pages and help centre on October 3, 2026, and copied prices exactly as shown. Where a vendor's site doesn't mention a feature, the table says so rather than guessing. Postel is our own product; its entry follows the same rules, including what it doesn't do.
