The Best Social Media MCP Servers in 2026
The best social media MCP server depends on what you want your assistant to do: Postel if you want Claude or ChatGPT to write LinkedIn and X posts in your own voice and schedule them, Buffer for the most networks on a free plan, Metricool if you want analytics in the chat, and Postiz if you want to self-host. All of them let an assistant schedule posts after you approve; they differ in networks, price, and whether the assistant can also read comments and numbers.
Listed in Claude's directory. Needs a Postel account: $1 for 7 days, then from $29 a month.
The short list
- Postel: writing and scheduling LinkedIn and X posts in your voice from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
- Buffer: the most networks, and the MCP works on Buffer's free plan.
- Typefully: X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, for people who already write in Typefully.
- Taplio: LinkedIn only, with content inspiration and analytics.
- Metricool: scheduling plus analytics, best times to post and ads.
- Postiz: open source, so you can run it on your own server.
- Hootsuite: big teams that also want their inbox and social listening in the assistant.
- Zernio and Ayrshare: developers building agents that post for many accounts.

Postel
Postel is a hosted MCP server for people who post as themselves. When you ask for a post, Postel writes it in the voice it learned from your own LinkedIn or X posts, saves it as a draft, and schedules or publishes it after you approve. It has 17 tools, including create-posts for up to 25 posts in one request and a search of viral X posts for research.
- Server:
https://www.postel.app/api/mcp, OAuth or API key. Listed in Claude's connector directory. - LinkedIn: your personal LinkedIn profile, through LinkedIn's official API, with first comments.
- Not for: reading comments, analytics in the chat, or networks beyond X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Mastodon.
Pick it if you post as yourself on LinkedIn and X and want the assistant's drafts to sound like you.

Buffer
Buffer runs a hosted server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp with tools to create, edit, delete and list posts, plus aggregated post metrics, ideas and templates. It covers Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn (profiles and Pages), Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky and Substack. Buffer's pricing puts AI integrations on every plan, including the free one with 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel; paid plans start at $5 per channel a month, billed yearly. Sources: Buffer MCP docs, pricing.
Pick it if you post the same thing to many networks and want a free start. It doesn't write in your voice; your assistant writes the text.
Typefully
Typefully's hosted server (mcp.typefully.com/mcp) creates, edits and schedules drafts, reads the queue and published posts, uploads media, and reads and resolves comments on drafts. It posts to X, LinkedIn (profiles and Pages), Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, and it's listed in Claude's connector directory. Typefully's changelog says the MCP is available to all users. Sources: Typefully MCP help, AI agents page.
Pick it if you already write in Typefully and want your assistant to work in the same drafts.
Taplio
Taplio's server is LinkedIn only: write and refine posts, schedule or publish them, search for content inspiration and pull analytics. Writing comments and replies needs the Growth plan. You get 50 free calls, then a 7-day trial; plans start at $39 a month. It's listed in Claude's connector directory. Sources: Taplio MCP guide, pricing.
Pick it if LinkedIn is your only network and you want its inspiration search in the chat.
Metricool
Metricool's server has 27 tools covering scheduling, analytics, best times to post, competitors and ad campaigns, across 10 networks. The MCP works on the free plan, but the free plan excludes LinkedIn and X: LinkedIn starts on Starter at $25 a month ($20 billed yearly), and X is a paid add-on. It's listed in Claude's connector directory. Sources: Metricool MCP, pricing.
Pick it if you want to ask your assistant how posts did, not just schedule them.
Postiz
Postiz is open source. Its hosted server is included in every plan from $29 a month ($23 billed yearly) after a 7-day trial, or you can run the app yourself. It lists 30+ networks, scheduling, analytics and media upload. Sources: Postiz MCP, pricing, GitHub. See also Postel vs Postiz.
Pick it if you want to host it yourself or need a network the others don't cover.
Hootsuite
Hootsuite splits its MCP into servers by job: publishing (drafts, scheduling and metrics), the inbox (replies), listening, and employee advocacy. You need a Hootsuite account with the matching product; plans start at $99 per user a month, billed yearly. We couldn't confirm which plan includes the publishing server. Sources: Hootsuite MCP, plans.
Pick it if your team already runs on Hootsuite and wants the inbox and listening in the assistant too.
Zernio and Ayrshare
Both are APIs for developers who post for many accounts, with an MCP server on top.
- Zernio (getlate.dev now redirects there) posts to your LinkedIn profile and every Page you administer, X and more, with comments and analytics. The first 2 accounts are free, then $6 per account a month. X API usage is passed through at X's rates. Sources: Zernio MCP docs, pricing.
- Ayrshare has 33 tools across 14 networks, including comments, messages and ads. It signs in with an API key only, and X needs your own X developer app. Plans start at $149 a month. Sources: Ayrshare MCP, pricing.
Servers that won't post for you
- X's own MCP server. X's own MCP server is for reading X (posts, search, timelines, mentions) and publishing Articles; its docs list no tool for regular posts or scheduling. It needs your own X developer app. Source: X's MCP docs.
- LinkedIn's connector in Claude. LinkedIn's own connector in Claude's directory, LinkedIn Hiring Pro, drafts and posts one free job listing; it doesn't write, schedule or publish posts to your feed.
- LinkedIn's app in ChatGPT. It looks people up; it doesn't post. See how to connect ChatGPT to LinkedIn.
- Composio's LinkedIn and Twitter toolkits publish a post right away but have no scheduling tool, and X needs your own X app. Source: Composio LinkedIn toolkit.
How to choose
- Which networks? If you need Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest today, Postel isn't for you yet; Buffer, Metricool or Postiz are.
- Who writes the post? Every server here schedules what your assistant writes. Postel is the one that can also write the post itself, in the voice it learned from your own posts.
- Read or write? If you want the assistant to read comments, replies or numbers, pick Metricool, Hootsuite, Zernio or Ayrshare.
- Which assistant? Claude can add a custom server on every plan; the free plan allows one. Custom MCP servers with write tools work on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, on ChatGPT on the web. On Pro, ChatGPT can only connect custom servers that read, and Free, Go and Plus aren't listed (OpenAI's help center, checked October 30, 2026).
- Approvals. Keep your assistant asking before it runs tools that publish. In Claude that's the default unless you choose "Always allow".

Frequently asked questions
Updated Oct 30, 2026.
What is a social media MCP server?
A server that gives an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT tools for your social accounts, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Depending on the server, the assistant can write, schedule and publish posts, read comments or pull analytics.
What is the best MCP server for LinkedIn?
For writing and scheduling posts in your own voice, Postel. For LinkedIn only, with inspiration search and analytics, Taplio. If you also post to many other networks, Buffer. The LinkedIn MCP server page compares the open-source LinkedIn servers too.
What is the best MCP server for X (Twitter)?
Postel and Typefully both post and schedule X posts and threads without your own X developer app. X's own server reads X but doesn't post regular posts. See the X MCP server page.
Is there a free social media MCP server?
Buffer's MCP works on its free plan, Zernio's first two accounts are free, and Postiz is free if you host it yourself. Metricool's free plan includes the MCP but not LinkedIn or X.
Which social media connectors are in Claude's directory?
Among the ones here, Postel, Typefully, Taplio and Metricool are in Claude's connector directory, and Buffer and Postiz say they're listed too (checked October 30, 2026). Any of the others can be added as a custom connector with its server URL.
Can ChatGPT use these servers?
On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, yes, as custom MCP servers added on the web. ChatGPT Pro can only connect servers that read, and Free, Go and Plus aren't listed.
Do MCP servers post without asking?
Not by default in Claude: it asks before running a tool unless you've chosen "Always allow". ChatGPT can ask for confirmation depending on the plugin's permission setting.
