ChatGPT can't post to X by itself, and there's no official X app in ChatGPT. Not on its own. What exists today (checked October 30, 2026):
No X app in ChatGPT. We couldn't find one in OpenAI's plugin listings.
X's own MCP server isn't for posting. X's own MCP server is for reading X (posts, search, timelines, mentions) and publishing Articles; its docs list no tool for regular posts or scheduling. It also needs your own X developer app.
A custom MCP server can post. Postel's server gives ChatGPT tools to draft, schedule and publish X posts and threads.
Your plan decides whether you can add it. Custom servers that make changes work on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu. Pro can only connect servers that read, and Free, Go and Plus aren't listed (OpenAI's help center).
How to connect ChatGPT to X
Step 1: Create a Postel account and connect X
Sign up for Postel with your X account, which connects the account your posts go to. If you signed up another way, connect X under Settings > Channels.
Step 2: Add Postel in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server. Name it Postel and paste this under Connection:

Choose OAuth for sign-in, tick I understand and want to continue and click Create as a plugin. On Business, only admins and owners can add it; on Enterprise and Edu, admins or members they allow.
Step 3: Sign in to Postel
Sign in and approve access. ChatGPT never sees your X password, and you don't need an X API key.
Step 4: Ask for a post or a thread
Try: "Use Postel to draft an X post about what we shipped this week." Postel writes it in your voice and saves it as a draft. Then: "Schedule it for Thursday at 3pm."
ChatGPT can ask you to confirm before Postel schedules or publishes, depending on the plugin's permission setting. Set Postel to Always ask to confirm every action (OpenAI on permissions).

What ChatGPT can't do on X this way
Read X for you. No timeline, mentions, DMs or live search.
Act on other people's posts. No likes, replies, reposts or follows.
Use a file from the chat. Images and video must be at a public URL; files you uploaded to ChatGPT go in through the Postel editor.
Skip plan limits. X posts with a link are capped each month: 30 on Starter, 100 on Pro and unlimited on Team.
On ChatGPT Plus or Pro?
You can't add a server that posts on those plans. Two options that work today:
Write in ChatGPT, schedule in Postel. Paste the draft into Postel's editor, or let Postel write it in the voice it learned from your X posts. The AI tweet writer and thread maker pages show how.

ChatGPT's agent can drive a browser on paid plans, but it stops for you to sign in and some sites block automated browsers, so it's not a practical way to post every day.
